Veteran Bakers Better Bread
Midnight Rye Loaf

Our dark artisanal rye is a nod to Old World baking traditions, shaped for the modern table. Unlike free-form boules, we bake this loaf in a traditional U.S. pan, giving it a familiar, uniform slice that is perfect for sandwiches, toasting, and deep spreads.
A hearty, deep-mahogany classic baked in the traditional American pan. Crafted with stone-ground dark rye flour and a hint of molasses, this loaf delivers a dense, moist crumb with a beautifully blistered, caramelized crust. Perfect for the ultimate Reuben or thickly sliced and slathered with salted butter.
We utilize a slow fermentation process to unlock the complex, earthy sugars inherent in the dark rye grain. The deep color comes naturally from the long bake and a touch of dark molasses, creating a robust crust that seals in an incredibly tender, tight-knit interior crumb. It is a substantial, soulful bread built to stand up to bold cheeses, cured meats, and rich stews.
